Who runs this site

The Sensible Post is operated as an independent publication. For any privacy question or request, email hello@thesensiblepost.com. We aim to respond within 30 days.

What we collect

No advertising script runs on this site yet. We have not been approved for Google AdSense, and until we are, no advertising code is loaded at all — so the Advertising section below describes what will apply once it is, not what happens today. Analytics is configured, and loads only if you accept.

• Standard request data — IP address, user agent, requested URL, referrer — processed by our host in order to serve and secure the site. We do not collect or retain this ourselves.
• Analytics data on pages viewed and how you arrived, via Google Analytics 4.
• The parameters in the link you arrived through, used to measure which advertising placements work.

Advertising

We use Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or device identifiers to serve and measure ads. You can control personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings and see vendor practices at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.

Consent

Analytics and advertising scripts do not load until you accept via the banner shown on your first visit. Decline and no analytics or advertising script is requested at all.

What we store in your browser

• Your consent choice. Stored in your browser's local storage so you are not asked again on every page. This is not a cookie and is never sent to us.
• How you arrived. If you came through an advertising link, its parameters are held in session storage for the length of your visit, so we can tell which placements are worth paying for. Cleared when you close the tab.
• Cookies set by Google. Only after you accept. Google Analytics and Google AdSense set their own cookies and may use device identifiers, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve and measure advertising across this and other sites.

You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which removes the stored choice and shows the banner again.

Opting out of analytics

Independently of the banner, you can opt out of Google Analytics on every site you visit by installing Google's browser opt-out add-on.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data we hold, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. Email us via the contact page to make a request.

Hosting and how long data is kept

This site is static and is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, served through Cloudflare's network. Cloudflare processes request data, including IP addresses, in order to deliver and secure the site, under its own privacy terms. We do not run our own web server and do not keep our own copy of server logs.

Analytics data is held by Google and deleted according to the retention period configured on our Analytics property. We do not export it or keep a separate copy.

Changes to this policy

We update this page when our data practices change, and revise the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the page itself.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
